“Mummy, you came second. Because you were in a race. Daddy, you came second too! You’re the best bike rider in the WORLD. Just like me! I’m the best in the WORLD!”
Ash - 3 1/2. Talking about a race Kent and I went in as a pair. We came second, out of two. But Ash doesn’t need to know that (:

“Ash, would you like toast with your bacon?”
“No thank you daddy, but you can if you like”

Ash and I have started a bit of a habit - I lie in bed with him at night and tell him stories before he goes to sleep. I’m sure he’s just playing me so I stay longer.
“Tell me the book about Jackson and his brover Phoebe when they go to the zoo, that’s the one I want you to read.”
I start telling the story, and Sometimes I ask ash how it goes.
“When they finally got into the Zoo, they were so excited, they didn’t know which animals to look at first! Who do you think they should go to see first Ash?”
“um, the biiiiig sheeps!” “ok! So they went to see the sheep… Where should they go now?” “the yittle (little) sheeps!!”

From where I sit, I see the blur of everything I want, passing me by. The only thing I’m truly, deeply proud of in my life is my family. Everything else disappoints me. Will I ever have the guts to step off the main road onto a side track? Not the way I’m looking at it right now. It’ll never happen if I don’t believe it will.

Walking around with Cameron on my back in the Ergo Baby Carrier, he finally fell asleep. I can feel your body moving as you breathe. I feel your warmth, and you are completely relaxed. Surrendering to sleep.

Today I leant my head on Cameron’s chest, just to feel close to him. His little heart beat pumping away was a surprise. It was beating so fast, and I felt so close to him. Not all that long ago, his little heart was beating inside me.

I have never done that before, not even with Ash. I think I’ll do it more often. There’s life inside that little body.
