a little patch of perfect |
From little things, big things grow |
A while ago, I had a lovely experience and I wrote about it. It was a small thing. I was doing the dishes, and I took a moment to appreciate the heat of the water swishing around my hands. The next day I did the dishes again, and was reminded about how nice the feeling was the day before, and I was filled with the same feeling of joy and appreciation for the hot water we have in our taps.
Around the same time, I had a lovely (but short) encounter with a passer by, we shared a smile. The next day when I passed the same spot on the road, I remembered the encounter, and I had a warm feeling again.
These are moments that I now call a little patch of perfect.
This made me think about so many lovely moments in my life, and how little things trigger those happy memories for me, and I am filled with the same warmth and joy (if not a little diluted by time and memory) that I had at the time. It happens often, and my heart gives a little skip, and then it is forgotten. This discovery has granted me the excitement of anticipation! What if I could feel the joy of every little patch of perfect every single day! The challenge is not to let those moments be forgotten. To relive the little patches, and feel them deeper every time.
Every day!
If I find a new little patch every day, and then add that to the list - wow. I’d barely have time to eat or sleep because I’d be filling every moment with joy and emotion! Ok, so maybe that’s not realistic, but my point is I now have a fairly exciting prospect in front of me.
Allow me to translate this into something more achievable:
The things I do everyday, without thought or emotion - like cleaning my teeth, getting dressed, driving, doing the dishes - those are the places I seek to find a little patch of perfect because they are the moments that make up a life time, and can so easily be devoid of fulfillment and growth.

Also on this blog you will see the other expressions of my life through writing and photography.
Will you join me on this journey? Before long, I think we’ll find it isn’t such a little patch after all.
Now head on back to the bloggy, and enjoy. Then if you have something special (or simple) to share, use the “Share” link at the top to submit your little patch of perfect.
May you see that every day is already filled with little patches of perfect.
Love, Bec.
